Transparency
Best place I ever worked for had all glass walls on offices, and doors were almost always open. Worst place had long halls, solid walls and always-closed doors. Always wondered what people were hiding when they’d scurry from one door to the other.
Give and take
I got a notice from the Social Security Administration that my pension would increase by 2 percent in January. However the Medicare deduction increased, so I will actually receive $1 less per month than I do now. Not only the Lord giveth and taketh away.
Hush fund
Congress should immediately dissolve their “hush fund” for paying off allegations of sexual harassment or impropriety. Over $17 million has been paid out in 200 instances since this creative “bi-partisan” cover-up fund was established. That is our tax dollars and I resent it immensely.
Set us back
The NAACP and we Democrats would not have complained if Donald Trump would not have come to the opening of the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. In fact we would have been very happy, he did not belong here. Those who marched and fought for civil rights should have been the ones there. Gov. Bryant made a huge mistake inviting Donald Trump. That mistake set our state back 100 years.
Shame
What a shame that Rep. Bennie Thompson, Mayor Lumumba, Congressman Lewis, and others associated with the civil rights movement chose the occasion of the opening of the Civil Rights Museum to show their true feelings of bigotry and racism. President Trump came to honor those that fought, suffered and died for the causes that they now perpetuate. Dr. King must be rolling over in his grave.
Yay Ray
Thank you Ray Mabus for what you said about Trump. It was so true, and for standing up for what you believe in we are very proud of you and wish you could run for office again.
Success
Iraq said on Saturday that the war on ISIS is over. After three and one half years of combat operations, they drove extremists from all territory they held. This is one for Obama’s policies succeeding.
Blame game
I read Saturday’s article, “Mississippians divided about visit by Trump.” In the article, Kenneth Stokes is quoted ranting about falling down, gutted houses. Who’s fault is it? He’s been a Jackson city councilman since 1989, except for 2012-15 when he was a Hinds County supervisor. The same goes for Rep. Bennie Thompson. He serves the poorest area of the state with the largest black population and has since 1993! Both these men are responsible for the conditions in the areas they are supposed to be helping improve.
