Only five stores in the entire Dirt Cheap chain were selected as new “super lux” stores and one of them is in South Mississippi.
The store at 11312 U.S. Highway 49 in Gulfport joins four other super lux locations selected to sell upscale merchandise at discount prices.
These five stores are closed Monday and Tuesday to restock. They reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday with truckloads of major luxury brand merchandise available while supplies last.
“Gulfport has been a great community for our customers and associates over the years and was selected as one of the locations,” said Laura Sasser, senior vice president of planning for Dirt Cheap. The company is headquartered in Hattiesburg and has stores across eight states.
Customers will still be able to shop for their favorite products along with some exclusive finds at these lux stores.
More luxury clothing, footwear, designer brands, housewares and lots of different things will be on the shelves when the stores reopen on Wednesday.
What shoppers can expect each week in Gulfport depends on what arrives on the delivery trucks.
The website says some of the labels shoppers may find are Madewell, Free People, Top Shop, Lucky Brand Jeans, Coach, Brahmin, Michael Kors and Saint Laurent.
There are some rules to follow, such as no shopping carts in the luxury items area.
“You are limited to what you can carry in your arms. You may purchase those items and return to the section for more if you wish,” the website says.
The Dirt Cheap store in Gulfport is the only location carrying the select upscale brands in Mississippi. The other “super lux” stores are in these cities:
- Madison, Alabama
- Pensacola, Florida
- Euless, Texas
- Smyrna, Tennessee
Dirt Cheap is an “extreme value retailer,” selling returns and excess inventory at low prices rather than stores disposing of the products. In 2022, 60 million items were saved from landfills, the company said.
